It’s common for me to get questions from folks in higher-level sales positions or semi-supervisory positions (maybe National Accounts Managers, etc.), maybe interviewing for Regional Accounts Manager positions, who want to know how to differentiate themselves so that they will be the ones who get tapped for promotions. There’s a lot of advice out there about these kinds of things, and certainly your sales performance has to be solid to even put you in the running. This series of articles, “Transferable Skills Developed On-Campus” highlights some common positions found on many university campuses (not an exhaustive list of campus positions). Are you a passive job seeker? Proactive job search strategies are far more effective than passive ones. However, spending a lot of time on your job search doesn’t necessarily mean you are using proactive strategies. If you find yourself constantly having to wait for the employer to make the next move, you’re likely using passive job search strategies.
