I’m switching it around a bit and starting from the top of the list for this post. Large companies and lots of jobs, the companies range from Oil and Gas (which dominate the top of the list) to retail, Financial Services and Manufacturing. Each of the companies listed have mature career sites with many resources. If you are really interested in any of these companies, take advantage of their registration and submit your resume.
- Wal-Mart Stores – Number 1 on the Fortune 1000 list, Wal-Mart is a well known name. There are a number of options when visiting the Wal-Mart Careers page: Sam’s Club, Corporate Careers, Logistics Careers and quite a few more. Their main careers page has a large Apply label right in the middle of the page (which does not link to anything unless you select a career). If you would like to explore first, the right hand side of the page has a few options. In addition to the ones I listed, there is also College and Recent Grads, Military, Driving Careers and many more. You can also check for jobs in your area by clicking “in your local area” center page. There is a way to search across all jobs by selecting Apply and then editing the options. There were 1,535 career opportunities when I checked the site.

You have had a second or third face-to-face interview, and are waiting to hear how you stack up against the other final candidates. NOW it is time to pull into the lead candidate position.
Immediately after the last interview, where they indicate that there are several candidates left to interview, is the time to re-write your resume to exactly address all their qualifications and how you meet or exceed all their necessary requirements – based on all the items discussed in all previous interviews. Be sure to answer any comments, concerns or even relatively small comments they made during the previous meetings to show how you fit in completely.

“And the winner is . . .”. How many times have you heard those words? Better yet, how many times have you heard them followed by your name? It’s great to be the winner, “the best”. Not all of us are destined to be “the winner”, but being the best does not mean that you always need to be in first place. Inspiration drives the best in most people, and the companies listed today are all about providing the best environment to work in.
- Mayo Clinic – Ranked at 55 on the list, the Mayo Clinic is the largest integrated non-profit group practice in the world. They have almost 42,000 employees and added 36 jobs last year. The main careers page leads with Jobs (by location) at the top, followed by information about the company. You can follow Mayo Clinic jobs on Twitter and you can register on the site and upload you resume. There is no way to look for all jobs available unless you register, so you will need to select the location of your choice to search for jobs. For each location, the job search page has additional resources, such as preparing for your interview.

I never really did understand the phrase “working like a dog”. I don’t know about your dog, but mine seems to sleep most of the day (unless I’ve got something important to do, then he is bothering me). We all know that the phrase means working really hard and almost anyone I speak with tells me that they are “working like a dog”. Now if you are out of work, you should be working like a dog looking for a job. If you still have a job, your time to spend job hunting is limited so you will need to make the best of it (like reading CareerAlley). So, to help you out, today’s post is all about lists (read on).
